How this started

Marcus Delgado spent more than a decade working construction and hauling around the Inland Empire before buying a single truck and one container in 2015. The reason was straightforward: he had spent years watching projects stumble on the same things - containers that turned up late or in the wrong size, prices that changed once the load crossed a scale, and diversion paperwork that got scrambled at permit sign-off because nobody had planned for it.

Eleven years on we run a fleet across San Bernardino and the Inland Empire, and the operating principle has not moved. Tell people the truth about what they need, protect the property, keep them compliant with the City's rules, and charge the number that was quoted.

What we actually do differently

We know the San Bernardino system. The City requires 65 percent of construction debris diverted from landfill, documented in a Waste Management Plan, and it has an exclusive waste franchise with a self-haul route for covered projects. We work within all of it - routing to permitted recycling facilities, providing the diversion receipts, and supporting self-haul work under an approved plan.

We recommend smaller containers. This one surprises people. Dense material - tile, concrete, the decomposed granite of the foothills - reaches a container's tonnage allowance while it still looks half empty. Recommending the 15 yard instead of the 20, or a dedicated 10 for the soil, costs us revenue and saves the customer money. We do it anyway.

We flag the older-home issues early. County landfills will not accept asbestos-contaminated debris, so on any older-building demolition we raise the asbestos-clearance question before the work starts rather than after a load is rejected. It is exactly the local knowledge a national booking site will not give you.

One number, tarped loads. The flat rate covers delivery, the rental period, collection, recycling and disposal, and a stated tonnage allowance, with the overage rate quoted in the same breath. And every load leaves tarped and secured. No fuel surcharge, no environmental fee appearing on an invoice for the first time.

Why local knowledge matters here

San Bernardino is the county seat and the hub of the Inland Empire, so the work splits several ways. New construction and newer-home remodels across the growing subdivisions and out toward Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario produce bulky, light debris that wants a larger container. Renovation of the older homes downtown, in Redlands and Colton, gives up dense material that wants a smaller one - and raises the asbestos question. And nearly every job that moves earth produces the heavy decomposed-granite spoil that needs its own box.

Then there is the compliance reality: the diversion requirement, the Waste Management Plan, the franchise and self-haul rules, the asbestos clearance, the household-hazardous-waste routes. • Priya Raman — Operations Manager. Runs the schedule, the swaps and the contractor accounts, and knows which Inland Empire routes a loaded truck can and cannot manage. If you need a same-day swap, she is the one who makes it happen.
• Hector Salcedo — Lead Driver. Has been placing containers on San Bernardino driveways and sloped foothill lots for years and sizes a load by eye better than most. If he says a 30 will not fit your lot, it will not fit.
• Danielle Ruiz — Customer Care Lead. First voice on the phone most mornings, and the person who will walk you through what can and cannot go in the container and which permits your project needs.
